DAYDREAMING
Skladba Daydreaming s podtitulem Where are those times? představuje náhlou vzpomínku, únik z dnešního chaotického světa, kterou se nechá člověk natolik pohltit, až zapomene vnímat realitu kolem sebe a ocitá se, alespoň na okamžik, v čase, kdy mu bylo dobře a všechno se zdálo jednodušší. Bohužel jak už to se sny bývá, přijde probuzení a s ním i lítost, že sen byl jen sen a návrat do skutečného světa je nezbytný.
Hudebně jsem se snažil navodit atmosféru doby minulé názvuky jakéhosi jazzu počátku minulého století. Z letmého a poněkud nervního motivu úvodní části pak vyrůstá čtyřhlasá fuga es moll, ve které je už snící jedinec (klarinet) naprosto pohlcen kvartetem, a až v jejím samotném závěru se zatouží připojit. Děj však už směřuje k jasnému cíli - probuzení.

JAN DUŠEK (* 1985)
Vystudoval konzervatoř v Teplicích (klavír, skladba) a v letech 2004-2012 se věnoval studiu skladby na Akademii múzických umění, které dokončil doktorským titulem. Od roku 2012 působí tamtéž jako odborný asistent na katedře skladby. V roce 2006 získal 1. cenu skladatelské soutěže Generace za skladbu ...již za sedm dnů sešlu na zemi déšť... a v roce 2007 rovněž 1. cenu za skladbu Gradace pro varhany. V soutěži NUBERG 2008 získal za skladbu Chalomot jehudiʼim Cenu veřejnosti, o rok později byla tato skladba odměněna Cenou Gideona Kleina. V roce 2010 získal jeho melodram Pražský chodec 2. cenu v Soutěži pro mladé umělce vyhlašované městskou částí Praha 1 a v roce 2012 byl ve stejné soutěži odměněn 3. cenou za klavírní cyklus Pražské zvony. Za hudbu k němému filmu Dítě ghetta obdržel v soutěži NUBERG 2011 Cenu veřejnosti, za hudbu k celovečernímu němému filmu Ost und West pak v následujícím ročníku Cenu mladých.

Daydreaming, with its subtitle Where are those times?, is a sudden memory, an escape from today's chaotic world, one in which the listener is so absorbed that they forget the reality around them and find themselves, at least for a moment, at a time when they were feeling fine and everything seemed easier. Unfortunately, as is often the case with dreams, there comes a rudeawakening, and with it regret that it was just a dream and they have to return to the real world. Musically, I have tried to evoke the atmosphere of the time of the last kind of jazz at the beginning of the last century. From the fleeting and somewhat nervous motif of the introductory part grows a four-part fugue in E minor, in which the dreaming individual (the clarinet) is already completely absorbed by the quartet, and only at the very end does he long to join it. However, the tune is already heading for a clear goal - awakening.

JAN DUŠEK (* 1985)
Jan graduated from the conservatory in Teplice (piano and composition) and in the years 2004-2012 studied composition at the Academy of Performing Arts, which he completed with a doctorate. Since 2012, he has been working there as an assistant professor at the Department of Composition. In 2006, he won First Prize in the the Composition competitionGeneration for his composition ... In seven days I will send rain to the earth... and in 2007 also FirstPrize for his composition Gradation for organ. Atthe NUBERG 2008 competition, he won the Public Prize for his composition Chalomot jehudiʼim, and a year later this composition was awarded the Gideon Klein Prize. In 2010, his melodrama Prague Pedestrian won Second Prize in the Competition for Young Artists held by Prague 1City District, and in 2012 he was awarded ThirdPrize in the same competition for the piano cycle Prague Bells. In the NUBERG 2011 competition, he received the Public Award for his score for the silent film Child of the Ghetto, and the following year, the Youth Award for the music for the silent film Ost und West.
